Never Forget

"We should never forget those in our government who used the worst terrorist attack in our nation’s history as an excuse to launch completely unrelated wars, to do unprecedented damage to Americans’ historic liberties, to run roughshod over the Constitution, and to betray the Founders’ vision by savaging some of our most deeply held values."

Ron Paul saying it better than me.

Well yes, that is pretty well said, but sometimes my eyes start rolling in reference to "the Founders" who owned slaves etc., you could have said it better.

I grudgingly accept your criticism, Sheldon. :)

I often find myself dozing off a soon as someone starts talking about whenever they think they can channel the thoughts of the founders. The founders, as a whole, were brilliant people. They were also a product of their times. It seems irrational to me to think that a world view from ~250 years ago is 100% applicable to the modern world.

should say

I often find myself dozing off whenever someone thinks they can prove their point by channeling (projecting typically) the thoughts of the founding fathers.

Has any one heard of Pearl Harbour?
I think the the difference between the two is instructive.
In Pearl Harbour America wasn't at war i.e. their attack wasn't inspired by foreign policy.

911 well one can and I would argue the exact opposite is true.

Chomsky said it well when he said that Democracy as far as America is concerned is when other countries do what their told.
He has also amplified the old adage. "All that evil needs to prosper is for good (reasonable) people to do nothing"
BTW 911 was still a monstrous act and a tragedy.

If we want to reduce terrorism etc we should heed the warning instead of vilifying the message to avoid the hard truth.
Bush as the front for the neocoms in the Republicans simply played into the extremist's trap.....by increasing what caused the attack.
Keep in mind until Iraq and Afghanistan ..bin Laden was considered a embarrassment to the Taliban and they offering to hand him and his band over. He was a nobody.
Most people conveniently forget that.
